History

A quick tour of our company's history:

1948

Only a few years after the end of World War II and his return from a prisoner-of-war camp in the United States, Carl-Heinz Menke became the sales representative in northern Germany for the tinware factories Bernhard Beckmann and Hermann Winkel Blechverpackungen.
Initially, funnel cans, hobbocks and milk cans were sold, as well as tinplate cans, buckets and canisters.

1958

First presentation of products in the exhibition halls in Hamburg.

1959

Lease of a small warehouse in Speckstraße/Kaiser-Wilhelm-Strasse in Hamburg.

1960

First brochure of products.

1962

On September 1st, Carl-Heinz Menke and his partners found Marwin Plastic GmbH. With the advent of plastic, Carl-Heinz Menke recognizes the opportunities and future prospects of plastic packaging. Marwin Plastic is one of the first plastic packaging manufacturers in Germany, producing canisters and bottles.

1960s/1970s/1980s

Further expansion of the commercial agency business with well-known manufacturers of buckets, canisters, drums, etc. such as Delbrouck, Felser and Haugolit. Several warehouse extensions due to relocations within Hamburg. Relocation of the administration to Toetensen (Rosengarten).

1993

Relocation of the warehouse to Gustav-Kunst-Str. 2-16, 20539 Hamburg.

1997

In August, Carl-Heinz Menke dies in a tragic car accident. His eldest daughter Georgia Menke takes over the management of the company. The company name is changed to MENKE Industrie­verpackungen.

2000

MENKE Industrie­verpackungen goes online. The company presents itself on the Internet at www.menke-industrieverpackungen.de.

2002

MENKE Indutstrieverpackungen receives DIN ISO 9001:2000 certification on December 10.

2004

Expansion of storage capacity with the addition of another warehouse.

2006

The company is re-established as Menke Industrie­verpackungen GmbH & Co KG.

2009

Menke Industrie­verpackungen introduces the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) concept internally.
Since 02.01.2009 Menke Industrie­verpackungen works according to the criteria of the HACCP concept.

On 26.09.2009 Menke Industrie­verpackungen was certified according to the revised DIN EN ISO 9001.

2012

The new office and warehouse building in the industrial park SEEVETAL-BECKEDORF is ready for occupancy on 01.01.2012 and our company gets a new home.

2015

A completely redesigned website is launched in the summer of 2015.
More than 1000 individual product photos and over 1000 lids and accessories represent the huge product variety of our company.

2016

A new warehouse at our location in the industrial park SEEVETAL-BECKEDORF is ready for occupancy.
This step increases our storage capacity by 70%.

2017

The new MENKE warehouse, office and photo studio is ready for occupancy!

In February, our ECO line goes online.
We now offer a growing range of packaging made from renewable or recycled materials. This packaging is completely biodegradable.
For a more sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging solution!

2020

The COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge for us, as it is for so many companies and people.
We would like to thank our customers and suppliers for their trust and cooperation during these difficult times.

2023

A third floor is added to our office building. This gives us even more space for our growing team.
